4-Day Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley

We will pick you up between 7-8 am from your riad, hotel, airport, or wherever you are. We start our desert tour, making amazing stops with breathtaking views through the High Atlas Mountains and small Berber villages perched on its slopes. We will cross the Tizi n’Tichka pass, the highest in North Africa.

Our first major stop will be at the famous Ait Ben Haddou, one of the most stunning kasbahs in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage site. After exploring the kasbah and other nearby sites, we will have lunch at a local restaurant. Continuing our journey, we will pass through the Rose Valley before arriving at our riad/hotel in the Dades Valley, where we will spend the night.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Merzouga (Camel Trekking & Desert Camping)

The next morning, we will start the second day of our 3-day Morocco desert tour after breakfast and a shower at your hotel. We will visit the Dades Valley, known for its stunning landscapes and panoramic views. Then, we will hike through the Todra Gorge, one of the most spectacular gorges and river canyons in the world, famous for its rock formations. We will also have the chance to learn how Moroccan carpets are made.

We continue our journey to the desert via El Jorf and Erfoud, heading to Merzouga. Here, you will ride a camel (dromedary) and trek further into the desert, exploring the Sahara by camel and witnessing the beautiful sunset. After a traditional Moroccan dinner at a Berber desert nomadic camp, you can enjoy the tranquility of the desert under a starry sky.

Day 3: Exploring Desert of Erg Chebbi – Tea with Nomad Family – Gnawa Tribe

Your camel guide will wake you up early to catch the sunrise. After enjoying the magnificent sunrise from the dunes, you will return to the lodge by camel for a shower and breakfast. We will then take you off-road to start an amazing tour around the dunes of Erg Chebbi.

During this day, we will visit a nomad family, enjoy tea in their tent, and learn about their way of life. We will also visit fossil sites in a riverbed, ancient rock paintings, and the impressive dunes of Erg Chebbi.

Later, we will visit the Gnawa people in Khamlia village, where you can learn about their unique culture and traditions. The afternoon is free for you to explore the dunes at your leisure, enjoy the sunset, and take in the exclusive views.

Day 4: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Ifrane – Fez

After breakfast and a shower, we will leave Merzouga and begin the last day of our tour from Marrakech to Fez via the Sahara Desert of Erg Chebbi. We will pass through the Ziz Valley, where we will stop to enjoy and take pictures of the stunning scenery.

We will then continue through the Mid-Atlas Mountains, passing through the pine forests of Azrou, home to Barbary apes. We will have lunch in the “Switzerland of Morocco,” Ifrane, known for its distinct and unusual landscape. Finally, we will reach Fez, where we will drop you off at your accommodation.
