Itinerary of the 5-Day Desert Tour from Marrakech to the Sahara
Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Ouarzazate – Skoura – Dades
We’ll pick you up from the airport or your accommodation and begin our tour in Marrakech at 8:00 AM. We’ll drive through the stunning High Atlas Mountains, taking in the beautiful mountain views. Along the way, we can stop to appreciate the scenery.
Next, we’ll reach Ouarzazate, known for its movie studios and desert landscapes. We can visit the Taourirt Kasbah, an old palace that provides insight into Moroccan history.
Afterward, we’ll continue to Skoura, a town famous for its palm groves and impressive kasbahs. You can visit the Kasbah Ameridil.
Finally, we reach Dades, renowned for its impressive canyons and unusual rock formations. We’ll stay here for the night.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga Sahara
Leaving Dades, we head to the Todra Gorges, magnificent canyons where you can walk through the narrow, towering cliffs. The scenery is breathtaking, so be sure to have your camera ready.
After the gorges, we’ll continue on to Erfoud, a town known for its fossils and dates. You might want to explore some local shops and try some delicious dates.
Our ultimate destination for the day is Merzouga in the Sahara Desert. We’ll arrive in the late afternoon, where you’ll have the chance to ride camels into the dunes to watch a stunning desert sunset.
We’ll spend the night in a traditional desert camp in Merzouga, where you can enjoy a Berber dinner and gaze at the starry desert sky. It’s a unique and unforgettable experience.

Day 3: Merzouga (Explore Erg Chebbi Desert) – Khamlia – M’fis – Desert & Nomads – Merzouga
In the morning, you can wake up early to enjoy an admirable sunrise over the Sahara dunes. It’s a sight you’ll never forget, so make sure to capture it with your camera.
After breakfast, we’ll head to the village of Khamlia, known for its Gnawa tribe. You can learn about their traditional culture.
Next, we’ll visit the village of M’fis, a small desert settlement. Here, you can interact with the locals and gain insight into their way of life in this arid environment.
One of the highlights of the day is a visit to a desert nomad family. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about their nomadic lifestyle, hear their stories, and enjoy tea with them. It’s a cultural exchange you won’t find anywhere else.
Return to Merzouga in the late afternoon, where you can relax and soak in the desert’s tranquility.

Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani – Agdz – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate
We depart from Merzouga and make a stop in Rissani, a historical town known for its lively markets and as the birthplace of the Alawite dynasty. You can explore the local markets and experience the vibrant atmosphere.
As we travel along the Draa Valley, you’ll be treated to stunning views of the palm oases and the desert’s edge. The valley is a lush and green contrast to the surrounding arid landscapes.
We’ll make our way to Ouarzazate, where we will spend the night.

Day 5: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

As we leave Ait Ben Haddou behind, we’ll drive through the High Atlas Mountains once again, where you’ll be treated to more awe-inspiring mountain landscapes, arriving in Marrakech in the evening.
